Education and Consciousness
Our educational institution teaches the basic skills of reading,
writing, speaking and listening. Unfortunately, there’s
a lack of education in consciousness, the very thing which
enables us to understand these basic skills in the first place.
If we knew how the mind works, we can train it to become even
more intelligent. This is not only for performing tasks and
creative thinking, but we can upgrade the quality of the mind
to the highest level where it no longer experiences conflict.
It purely operates from the principles of harmony and relies
on insight and wisdom to make its decisions. It no longer
has a desire to harm itself or harm others nor experiences
a sense of separation, but sees other consciousness as a part
of its own mind. The progress in our world would grow at a
rapid pace when there’s no conflict to slow it down.
We can use mindfulness training to:
Increase Focus and Attention – students
can retain more of what they learn (better memory) and perform
better on exams.
Gain More Confidence – by practicing
meditation, students are more relaxed; thus they are less
agitated or nervous. They’re less critical of themselves and others
so they don’t take rejection personally but simply learn
from the different experiences in a positive manner.
Resolve Conflict – by understanding
how the mind works, they become aware of how the mind is able
to produce conflict and negative emotions in the first place. Through recognizing
the disturbance in the mind, they would be able to let go
of stress.
When they see others in stress or conflict, they would be able to help
by using their knowledge based on insight and wisdom.
Create Harmony – when students practice
being non-judgmental and acceptance, they create a sense of
cohesiveness instead of a sense of separation. Students are
able to appreciate the differences instead of creating the feeling
of superiority or inferiority. They feel gratitude
towards each other and experience the feeling of oneness.
Think Outside the Box – as the result
of practicing mindfulness, the mind becomes more flexible.
This allows the mind to come up with creative solutions instead
of thinking in the same old pattern.
